Tio Leo's Mexican Restaurant in Carmel Valley, San Diego

tio_leo_logoMy family loves TIO LEO'S MEXICAN RESTAURANT in Carmel Valley and we visit there often.  We consider ourselves connoisseurs of Mexican cuisine and have certain criteria for selecting our favorite restaurants in specific categories.  One of our first criteria is that the tortilla chips in a Mexican restaurant should be hot and fresh when served.  Also, the flavor should be authentic corn, and lastly, the salsa accompanying the tortilla chips should be fresh.  We have found that to be the case at Tio Leo's.  We especially like that each diner gets their own serving of salsa, thus you can "double dip" to your heart's delight!

Our lunch and dinner favorites are the flautas, chile rellenos, carne asada taco basket and enchiladas to name a few.  The rice and frijoles are delicious and portions are good.  This is not gourmet Mexican food, but after years of living in Mexico, this comes as close to original Mexican food as any restaurant I have found in San Diego.  Give it a try... Ole! 

Tio Leo's is located at 3510 Valley Centre Drive in Carmel Valley - at the end of the cul de sac and adjacent to I-5 and the Marriott.

Where is the cheapest gas in the world?

Do you ever wonder what someone in another country pays for gasoline?  Do you ever wonder why they pay more or less than we do in Carmel Valley?  The other day I was at our desert home and decided to see what Costco charged for gas as opposed to a Shell station a block away.

To take it further, I went online to view what other countries pay for gas and here is a list below of what the average cost of gas is in other countries.  I continue to ponder why we are paying so much... there doesn't seem to be a rational reason.  If you have one, please let me know!

Buyer Motivation: Get money out of the bank & into real estate.

Bank_runYesterday I received a call from a new client who was interested in buying a townhome in Carmel Valley, San Diego.  It was a normal "looking for information" call until we got to his motivation.  He said that the IndyMac Bank collapse had "frightened" him and that he wanted to get his money out of the banks and into real estate where he felt it would be "safer".  Last night I got to thinking.... will there be more clients worried about their funds in a bank who will decide that real estate is a safer investment?  Maybe buying a second home or investment property, where there is revenue, would be a wiser choice.  IndyMac is the third largest bank collapse in U.S. History!  Is that enough motivation for clients who have over $100,000 in a bank account to consider investing in a different venue?  Is real estate it?

The Cove Development in Carmel Valley, San Diego

The Cove in Carmel ValleyTHE COVE development was built by Presley who at the time designed, built and marketed single-family detached and attached homes in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico.  The Cove homes were built in 1999 and feature three to five bedrooms with two one-half to four bathrooms.  The size of the homes range from 2,222 to 2,595 square feet of living space.  In addition, to many creative design features, the homes have either two or three car tandem garages and all are two story homes.  There are 107 units in The Cove development and there is a small homeowner's dues and Mello-Roos.

Costa_del_Sol_in_Carmel_ValleyCOSTA DEL SOL in Carmel Valley, San Diego was built by Barratt American.  Barratt American is a private company, who depends on local communities and their commitment to create a quality neighborhood to help sell their homes.  It is not surprising that they have built in Carmel Valley as this community is considered one of the finest family communities in San Diego County. 

Barratt American selected award-winning architectural firm, Costa_del_SolBassenian/Lagoni to create four distinctive three and four bedroom floor plans.  Homebuyers chose between the striking Spanish Eclectic, Old Monterey and Tuscan designs when they purchased their homes in 2002.  Costa del Sol community is near Hwy 56 and between the I-15 to the east and I-5 to the west and a few miles from Torrey Pines State Beach.  The homes are within the boundaries of the Del Mar School District.  The Costa del Sol development consists of 162 detached homes in the range of 1,615 to 2,191 square feet and all the homes are 3 or 4 bedrooms with 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 bathrooms.  Barratt American's headquarters are in Carlsbad, California, a few miles north of Carmel Valley.
